On Tuesday (April 30, 2024), Iberia announced the launch of the fourth edition of their cadet pilot training program.  Thus far, 48 students have completed the program, who have obtained financing for 50 percent of the cost of training. The Iberia Cadet program is operated in partnership with FTEJerez (Flight Training Europe).  Applications are open to interested candidates until May 15th, with training to start during the fourth quarter of 2024.  Iberia has already hired over 30 new pilots in 2024 alone.

In Tuesday’s announcement, Iberia’s Production Director, Rafael Jiménez-Hoyos, said,

“We are very happy to start the fourth edition of this successful program with which we not only promote the profession of pilots among young people, we also help them finance their training in very advantageous conditions so that they can develop their vocation.”

Also commenting on the training collaboration, FTEJerez’s CEO, Óscar Sordo, said,

“It is an honor for us that Iberia continues to trust FTEJerez to train its next generation of pilots. This new call not only recognizes the success of the Iberia Cadets program, launched for the first time in 2017, but also reflects the constant growth of the sector and the promising future of the industry.”

Of the 48 students that have completed the Iberia Cadets program, 19 pilots from the first edition have joined Iberia, with 13 more from the second edition expected to join the carrier on June 13th.  Additionally, Iberia expects to hire eight out of 16 cadets currently training in the third program edition during Q4 2024.  During training, students will obtain their APTL air transport license, financed approximately 50 percent by Iberia without interest.  Aspiring future pilots can submit their applications by May 15, 2024, by clicking here.
