Iberia has signed a new codeshare agreement with Volaris that will enhance connectivity between Europe and Mexico. Under the agreement, Iberia customers will have access to 25 domestic destinations in Mexico served by Volaris.
On Friday (June 7, 2024), Iberia announced the signing of a new codeshare partnership with Volaris that will enhance connectivity between Europe and Mexico. With the new commercial partnership, Iberia’s guests will enjoy seamless connectivity to 25 domestic destinations served by Volaris. Likewise, customers traveling from these 25 domestic destinations will enjoy seamless one-stop connectivity to Madrid via Mexico City. Iberia’s Madrid-Mexico City route is operated with a 348-seat Airbus A350 featuring Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy cabins.
In Friday’s announcement, Iberia’s Commercial Director – Clients and Network Development & Alliances, María Jesús López Solás, said,
“With this collaboration agreement we reaffirm our commitment to Mexico, one of our main markets. Thanks to it, we offer better connectivity to all customers who travel to Mexico with Iberia, at the same time that we make it easier for all passengers from Mexico to travel to Europe in a more comfortable and efficient way.”
Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership, Volaris’ Executive President, Holger Blankenstein, added,
“By signing this codeshare agreement with Iberia, we are providing passengers with a greater variety of options to explore Mexico. This alliance will expand connectivity via Mexico City, reaching 25 national destinations within our network. Our goal is to continue offering better connectivity options, further enriching the travel experience for more people.”
The new domestic codeshare destinations in Mexico include Acapulco, Cancún, Chetumal, Chihuaha, Ciudad Juárez, Cozumel, Culiacán, Guadalajara, Hermosillo, Huatulco, Ixtapa Zihuatañejo, La Paz, Los Mochis, Mazatlán, Mérida, Mexicali , Monterrey, Oaxaca, Puerto Vallarta, Puerto Escondido, San Juan del Cabo, Tapachula, Tijuana, Tuxla Gutiérrez and Villahermosa. Subject to regulatory approval in Mexico, Iberia expects the codeshare flights to be available from July 2024.
