Iberia Bolsters Summer 2022 Service to Portugal by Over Nine Percent Versus 2019

For summer 2022, Iberia is boosting service to Portugal with around nine percent more service compared to summer 2019. In addition to year-round flights to Lisbon and Porto, the carrier will serve Madeira from May, as well as Faro and the Azores from June.

On Friday (April 29, 2022) Iberia announced that they will boost service to Portugal this summer with approximately nine percent more service compared to summer 2019. The carrier will operate up to 76 weekly flights to Portugal, adding service to Madeira from May and to Faro and the Azores from June, complementing their year-round flights to Lisbon and Porto. From May 1st through the end of October, Iberia will offer three weekly flights between Madrid and Funchal on Mondays, Fridays and Sundays, increasing to five weekly flights in July, and daily service in August. From June 2nd, the carrier will offer twice weekly service to Faro on Thursdays and Saturdays, with frequencies increasing to five in July, and to daily service in August. Flights between Madrid and Ponta Delgada in the Azores will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays from June through September.


In addition to their summer destinations in Portugal, Iberia will increase frequencies between Madrid and Lisbon with up to 36 weekly return flights, compared to 33 during summer 2019. The carrier will also offer up to 28 weekly flights (four daily flights) between Madrid and Porto from May through October, compared to 26 in 2019. Flights from Madrid to Lisbon and Porto have been conveniently timed for business travelers with the first morning flight to Lisbon departing at 06:35 and to Porto at 08:20, and the last daily departures to Lisbon and Porto at 23:05 and 19:35 respectively, allowing for a same-day return.

The five destinations in Portugal also provide seamless connectivity via Madrid to over 100 international routes in Iberia’s network to destinations in Europe, the U.S. and Latin America.
