Iberia will offer two weekly nonstop flights between Madrid and Ponta Delgada in the Azores during July and August. The new route increases the carrier’s offer to Portugal to six destinations including Lisbon, Porto, Funchal, Faro, Porto Santo and the Azores.
On Wednesday (May 12, 2021), Iberia announced the addition of Ponta Delgada in the Azores to their schedule, increasing the number of destinations in Portugal on offer for summer 2021 to six, including Lisbon, Porto, Funchal, Faro, Porto Santo and the Azores. From July 3rd, the airline will offer two weekly nonstop flights between Madrid and Ponta Delgada. The flights will operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays in July and August and the route will be serviced with an Airbus A320. Tickets are now on sale through all channels with roundtrip fares starting from €179.
The service to Ponta Delgada increases Iberia’s summer 2021 offer to 114 destinations, including new service to the Maldives and Ljubljana in Slovenia. As previously announced, Iberia is betting big on Portugal this summer. Service to Lisbon will increase from 14 to 22 weekly flights between June and September, while the carrier will offer up to 11 weekly flights to Porto from June, increasing to up to 14 flights from July through October. Three weekly flights will be available to Funchal and Faro from June 4th, increasing to five weekly frequencies from July through September. Charter flights to Porto Santo from Lisbon and Porto, which are being marketed by the travel agency Viajes Abreu, start on June 10th and will be offered on Sundays through October.
