orizon Air’s Board of Directors has elected 28-year airline industry veteran, Jason Berry as the carrier’s new President. Prior to joining Horizon in 2023, Mr. Berry spent two years With Air Canada as Vice President of Cargo.
On Friday (November 3, 2023), Alaska Airlines announced that the Board of Directors of Horizon Air, their wholly owned regional subsidiary, has elected 28-year airline industry veteran Jason Berry as the company’s new President. In his new role, Berry will lead strategy, oversee operations and engage Horizon’s nearly 3,500 team members. He succeeds Horizon President Joe Sprague, who is retiring after four years in the role, and will shift to a senior advisor role at Alaska Airlines. Mr. Berry joined Horizon in 2023 as Senior Vice President of Operations. Prior to joining Horizon, he spent two years with Air Canada as Vice President of Cargo. Previously, he also led Alaska Air Cargo and McGhee Air Services.
In Friday’s announcement, Horizon Air’s new President, Jason Berry, said,
“I’ve had the opportunity to get to know our Horizon team over the past nine months and our employees are truly remarkable. Horizon is an incredibly well-run airline, and our people have a special dedication and heart. The opportunity to lead Horizon is an immense honor.”
Also commenting on Mr. Berry’s appointment, Alaska Airlines’ CEO, Ben Minicucci, said,
“Jason is a fantastic leader with a tremendous amount of industry experience and a passion for Horizon and its people. I look forward to his continuing contributions to Air Group’s success and am excited to welcome him to this leadership role.”
Jason Berry is a graduate of Central Washington University and earned his Executive MBA from the University of Washington’s Foster School of Business. He lives near Tacoma with his wife and three daughters. In December 2022, Mr. Berry was named ‘Executive of the Year’ by Air Cargo World magazine.
