Hawaiian Airlines will resume daily summer service between Oakland and Kona Starting June 15th and running through September 6, 2022. The carrier will also add flights between San Francisco and Honolulu.

On Monday (March 7, 2022), Hawaiian Airlines announced the relaunch of daily summer service between Oakland and Kona for the first time since summer 2016. The route will operate from June 15th and September 6, 2022. Flight HA66 will depart Kona (KOA) at 11:55 and arrive in Oakland (OAK) at 20:20. The return flight (HA65) departs OAK at 08:10 and arrives in KOA at 10:40, allowing travelers ample time to start enjoying the island. The summer seasonal service is Hawaiian’s fourth daily flight connecting Oakland to the islands, complementing existing service between Oakland and Honolulu, Kahului (Maui), and Līhu'e (Kaua’i).
Additionally, the carrier is adding a second daily frequency on their route between San Francisco (SFO) and Honolulu (HNL). The additional summer seasonal service will operate from May 15th through August 1st, 2022. Flight HA54 will depart HNL at 20:45 and arrive in SFO at 05:05, while the return flight (HA53) departs SFO at 07:00 and arrives in HNL at 09:30.
In Monday’s route announcement, Hawaiian Airlines’ Senior Vice President – Network Planning and Revenue Management, Brent Overbeek, said,
“The Kona Coast has been an increasingly popular destination for Bay Area travelers, and we are pleased to once again offer our Oakland guests convenient nonstop service to the Island of Hawai'i, while also providing a second flight option between San Francisco and Honolulu.”
The Oakland-Kona service will be operated with a modern, quiet and fuel-efficient Airbus A321neo featuring 16 luxurious leather Business Class recliners, 44 Extra Comfort and 128 Main Cabin seats. During the peak summer 2022 season, Hawaiian will average nine daily flight between the San Francisco Bay Area and the Hawaiian Islands. Finally, the carrier will also offer a second daily nonstop flight between Los Angeles and Maui from June 11th through August 15, 2022.
