Hawaiian Airlines Opens Ticket Sales for Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner; Will Resume Haneda-Kona Service

Hawaiian Airlines has started ticket sales for flights from Hawaii to San Francisco and Los Angeles which will be operated with their new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. Starting October 29, 2023, the carrier will also resume service between Tokyo-Haneda and Kona.

On Wednesday (September 6, 2023), Hawaiian Airlines announced the opening of ticket sales for flights operated with their brand new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner. The new aircraft will initially be deployed on routes from Hawaii to San Francisco (SFO) and Los Angeles (LAX). The carrier’s flagship 787-9 will debut on April 15, 2024 with daily service between Honolulu (HNL) and San Francisco through May 14th, followed by select HNL-LAX flights on May 14th, and service between Los Angeles and Maui (OGG) from May 15, 2023.


In Wednesday’s announcement, Hawaiian Airlines’ Chief Marketing Officer, Avi Mannis, said,


“Our 787's uniquely Hawaiian design and comfort, paired with the award-winning hospitality of our crew, will create an unparalleled experience for our guests on their travel to the islands.”


Hawaiian’s 300-seat Boeing 787-9 features their newest premium product, Leihōkū Suites (garland of stars). The 34 suites are set in a 1-2-1 configuration and feature privacy doors, lie-flat seating, an 18-inch IFE screen, personal power outlets, wireless phone charging and direct aisle access. Guests can also enjoy a shared experience with combinable double suites. The aircraft’s main cabin is configured with 266 Collins Aerospace Aspire light-weight seats, which offer more shoulder and hip room, and feature a 12-inch seatback IFE screen, as well as USB-A and USB-C charging ports. In a separate press release on Thursday (September 7, 2023), Hawaiian Airlines announced the resumption of service between Tokyo-Haneda (HND) and Kona (KOA). The route will operate three times from October 29th through November 4, 2023, before resuming regular weekly service on November 2nd. Hawaiian will gradually increase frequencies on the route to thrice weekly from March 2024.


In Thursday’s announcement, Hawaiian Airlines’ Country Director – Japan, Takaya Shishido, said,


“We’re very pleased to bring back our convenient nonstop service between Tokyo and Hawaiʻi Island as we continue to restore our Japan network to meet increasing demand. The gradual increase in our weekly service from November through March allows us to ramp up our operations to serve our guests.”


The Haneda-Kona route will be operated with a 278-seat Airbus A330 featuring 18 Premium Cabin fully lie-flat seats, 68 Extra Comfort seats and 192 Main Cabin seats.
