Gulf Air Adds Santorini and Mykonos to Summer 2021 Schedule

Gulf Air is adding two boutique destinations to their summer 2021 schedule with service to Santorini and Mykonos. The carrier will offer twice weekly service to each destination starting in June and the routes will be serviced with a new Airbus A320neo.

On Thursday (May 6, 2021), Gulf Air, the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain, announced the addition of twice-weekly service to both Santorini and Mykonos starting June 2nd and 3rd respectively. The routes will operate through September 22, 2021 and will be serviced with a new Airbus A320neo. The seasonal summer routes to the Greek islands boost Gulf Air’s network with popular boutique seaside destinations, a favorite with many tourists and families in the Kingdom.

In Thursday’s announcement, Gulf Air’s Acting Chief Executive Officer, Captain Waleed AlAlawi, said,


“We’ve researched and studied various destinations to add to our seasonal summer network and we’re excited to reveal Santorini and Mykonos as the new boutique additions. Reviewing potentials and listening to our customers’ feedback, we are confident that both Greek islands will provide the perfect experience for honeymooners, friends and families to spend their holidays. We will be flying to both these destiantions for the first time in the history of Gulf Air and we will be the only airline in the region flying to Santorini.”


In 2019, Gulf Air announced a boutique business model concept, with a focus on product and customer experience, like the hospitality industry. The carrier has differentiated itself as a boutique airline in the way it operates, as compared to volume driven competitors, creating a unique competitive advantage. The airline’s boutique philosophy is currently being translated into its fleet renewal, New Falcon Gold Class offering, upgraded Economy Class experience, new destiantions, and its presence in the new terminal at Bahrain International Airport.


Gulf Air currently offer service to and from Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Kuwait, Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Medina, Muscat, Cairo, Amman, Casablanca, London, Paris, Frankfurt, Athens, Bangkok, Manila, Singapore, Dhaka, Colombo and the Maldives, as well as several destinations in India and Pakistan.


Founded in 1950, Gulf Air is the national carrier of the Kingdom of Bahrain and normally serves 49 cities in 27 countries. From its hub at Bahrain International Airport, the airline offers twice daily service to 10 or more regional cities as well as international flights to the Indian subcontinent and Europe. Gulf Air currently operates a modern fleet of 33 narrow and widebody aircraft and by 2023 their fleet will consist of 10 Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners, 12 Airbus A320neos and 17 Airbus A321neos.
