On Thursday (March 11, 2021), flynas, the Saudi national carrier and leading Middle Eastern low-cost carrier (LCC) announced the launch of two weekly flights between Riyadh and the historical city of AlUla. The service will commence on March 17, 2021 and operate on Wednesdays and Saturdays. AlUla is included in the UNESCO World Heritage sites list and is considered the largest living museum in the world. Flights on the route are now available for booking through all channels including the carrier’s website and mobile app.

In Thursday’s announcement, flynas’ CEO, Mr. Bander Al-Mohanna, said,

“Adding the city of AlUla to the flynas network of domestic destinations is a continuation of flynas’ commitment to its expansion strategy across the Kingdom’s cities and regions, predominantly those of touristic and economic significance, offering a variety of options for travellers and particularly for the Kingdom’s visitors, with outstanding services and at competitive prices. flynas’ operating its new flights to the historical city of AlUla is attributable to the historic sites and archaeological landmarks and owed to our national role at flynas which aims to promote the Kingdom’s position as an international touristic destination, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 and serving to achieve the strategic goals of tourism. This comes after the approval of Saudi Arabia’s General Aviation of Civil Authority (GACA) to add Prince Abdul Majeed bin Abdulaziz Domestic Airport in AlUla to the list Saudi International Airports.

Founded in 2007, flynas is the national carrier of Saudi Arabia and leading LCC in the Middle East. The carrier operates over 1,200 weekly flights to 35 domestic and international destinations with a fleet of 30 Airbus A320 Family aircraft. Since its founding, flynas has carried over 38 million passengers from its bases in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam and Abha. flynas received the prestigious Skytrax award for ‘Middle East’s Best Low-Cost Airline’ in 2017, 2018 and 2019.
