flydubai’s First Scheduled Commercial Flight to Israel Lands in Tel Aviv

Yesterday, the carrier operated their first scheduled commercial flight between Dubai International Airport and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport. The milestone occasion was marked by a traditional water canon salute and a VIP delegation.

On Thursday (November 26, 2020), flydubai operated their first scheduled commercial flight between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Tel Aviv Ben Gurion International Airport. The inaugural flight was piloted by Captain Patrick Gonzenbach and Emirati First Officer, Abdulla Al Shamsi. Onboard the historic flight was a VIP delegation including flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith. Upon arrival in Tel Aviv the flight was greeted with a traditional water canon salute and flydubai’s delegation was met by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Ben Gurion International Airport’s CEO, Schmuel Zakay and aviation industry representatives.


Marking the occasion, flydubai’s Chief Executive Officer, Ghaith Al Ghaith, said,


“Today’s inaugural flight sees the air transport agreement realized. The creation of these direct air links will support the development of commercial ventures across a number of sectors helping to drive success and prosperity. We look forward to welcoming the first passengers from Israel as they come to explore the UAE.”


Also commenting on the milestone flight, flydubai’s Senior Vice President - Commercial Operations and E-commerce, Jeyhun Efendi, added,


“Since we announced the launch of operations to Tel Aviv, we have seen strong demand for services from both Israel and the UAE. We received our first bookings from both tourists and business travellers shortly after the schedule was published. There is opportunity to further grow our double daily service.”
