flydubai Launches Complimentary COVID-19 Multi-Risk Travel Insurance

The new multi-risk travel insurance will be automatically applied to all tickets purchased from December 1st, 2020. Underwritten by AIG Travel, the insurance covers overseas medical expenses up to $500,000, up to $7,500 for trip cancellations and $150 daily for quarantine.

On Sunday (December 6, 2020), flydubai announced the launch of complimentary multi-risk travel insurance, including COVID-19 coverage, for all tickets purchased from December 1st, 2020. The coverage is underwritten by AIG Travel and covers return and one-way trips outside of the customer’s country of residence. Some of the benefits of the insurance include coverage for overseas medical expenses and emergency evacuations up to $500,000 and up to $7,500 for trip cancellations and curtailments (for non-refundable costs), including if a traveler or relative is unable to travel due to a COVID-19 diagnosis. Additionally, eligible travelers will receive up to $150/day for quarantine at destination, for a maximum of 14 days if they test positive for COVID-19 or are placed in an unexpected mandatory quarantine. The multi-risk insurance also covers personal belongings & travel inconvenience, cancellations related to airspace closure, personal accidents, winter sports and other events.


In Sunday’s announcement, flydubai’s Chief Commercial Officer, Hamad Obaidalla, said,


“The safety and wellbeing of our passengers and crew remains our highest priority. Our multi-risk travel insurance will offer passengers more confidence to travel knowing that they will be looked after at every step of their journey. We expect the demand for travel to increase during the upcoming winter holidays season and this will give our passengers greater piece of mind.”
