flydubai Celebrates Inaugural Flight Between Dubai and Basel, Switzerland

flydubai’s inaugural flight between Dubai International Airport (DXB) and EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiberg (BSL) touched down in Basel, Switzerland on Wednesday, August 7, 2024.  The route will now operate four times weekly with a Boeing 737 MAX jet.

On Wednesday (August 7, 2024), flydubai announced the completion of their inaugural flight between Dubai (DXB) and Basel (BSL) in Switzerland, which was greeted at EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg by a traditional water cannon salute.  The route will now operate four times weekly, with flight FZ 1425 departing Dubai at 07:25 and arriving in Basel at 12:35. The return flight, FZ 1426, departs Basel at 13:25 and touches down back in Dubai at 22:05 (all times local).  Flydubai’s


Dubai-Basel route will be operated with a Boeing 737 MAX Family aircraft. 


Speaking at Wednesday’s press conference at the airport in Basel, flydubai’s SVP – Commercial Operations, Jeyhun Efendi, said,


“At flydubai, we are committed to opening up underserved destinations and creating free flows of trade and tourism and we are pleased to add Basel to our network in Europe.  EuroAirport Basel-Mulhouse-Freiburg serves Switzerland, France and Germany, making it an important hub for travel, trade and tourism in the tri-border region that will benefit our customers from the UAE and beyond.

“We also look forward to welcoming more travellers from Europe to Dubai and beyond on the flydubai network. Through Dubai’s aviation hub, passengers travelling from Basel can enjoy convenient connections to holiday destinations including Kenya, the Maldives, Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Thailand.”


Also commenting on flydubai’s new Dubai-Basel route, EuroAirport’s Managing Director, Matthias Suhr, added,


“We are proud that with regular direct flights to Dubai, the UAE is now even easier to reach from EuroAirport, which meets the growing demand for travel to this region and strengthens our role in ensuring connectivity of our trinational region.”

With the new Basel service, flydubai now serves 29 European destinations, including Budapest, Catania, Krakow, Milan-Bergamo, Prague, Salzburg, and Zagreb.
