On Thursday (July 1st, 2021), Flair Airlines, Canada’s only independent ULCC, announced the launch of service at Montreal-Trudeau International Airport (YUL) in Quebec with direct flights to four Canadian cities including Vancouver, Abbotsford, Halifax and Toronto. Flair is growing their network to serve 20 destinations with one-way fares from less than $50. In Thursday’s announcement, Flair Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Garth Lund, said,

“The citizens of Quebec have been denied access to affordable air travel and Flair is here to change that. Travel is a necessity, not a luxury. Getting across Canada shouldn’t force a family or an individual into debt while massive corporations sit back and benefit from a monopolized market. Flair is a different kind of airline. We are here to disrupt the status quo and put the power back into the consumer’s hands. Our low fares make travel accessible and affordable for everyone.”

In a separate press release on Thursday (July 1st, 2021), Flair Airlines further announced the launch of inaugural service at Victoria International Airport (YYJ) in British Colombia with nonstop service to Kitchener-Waterloo, Calgary and Edmonton.

Commenting on the new service from Victoria, Flair Airlines’ President and CEO, Stephen Jones, said,

“It is quickly becoming known that the residents of British Columbia have been gouged on air travel for years. Additional competition in the Victoria market is critical to ensuring a sustainable future of low-fares remains available for people in the region. Connecting people with the places, people, and experiences they love is at the heart of what we do. At Flair, we believe those connections should not be capitalized on by legacy airlines who refuse to keep their costs in check. The time for change and the lowering of Canadian airfares is now, and Flair is here to make that happen.”

Victoria Airport Authority’s President and CEO, Geoff Dickson, added,

“We’re pleased to welcome the return of Flair Airlines to Victoria and congratulate them today on their inaugural flight to Kitchener, Waterloo. We thank Flair for their commitment to YYJ and wish them the best of success with this new innovative service.”

One-way fares to and from Victoria start at only $30. Flair Airlines has an ambitious goal to expand their fleet to 50 aircraft within five years, bringing more ULCC service to Canadians.

Flair Airlines is Canada’s only independent ultra-low-cost carrier (ULCC) and the company’s mission is to make travel accessible and affordable for all Canadians. The airline operates a growing fleet of Next Generation Boeing 737-800s and 737-8s, and will serve 20 destinations across Canada by August 2021.
