On Thursday (March 24, 2022), Finnair announced an update of their summer 2022 flight program with service from Helsinki to 70 European destinations, five North American destinations and eight cities in Asia. Additionally, the carrier will launch all new service between Helsinki and Mumbai, India. Some of Finnair’s long-haul flights to Asia have been canceled due to the closure of Russian airspace, therefore, the airline has adjusted European network frequencies due to a decrease in transferring passengers.

In Thursday’s announcement, Finnair’s Chief Commercial Officer, Ole Orvér, said,

“Summer sees us increasing flights to over 300 daily flights. We continue to serve our key Asian destinations despite the longer routings caused by Russian airspace closure, and also have an excellent offering in Europe and North America.”

This summer, Finnair will offer daily connections to Bangkok, Delhi, Singapore and Tokyo, three weekly flights to Seoul, twice weekly service to Hong Kong, and one weekly flight to Shanghai. The new route to Mumbai, India will operate three times weekly. Finnair has suspended other planned services to Japan for summer 2022 due to the Russian airspace closure. The carrier originally planned to serve Tokyo (Narita and Haneda), Osaka, Nagoya, Sapporo and Fukuoka with a total of 40 weekly flights. The carrier has also postponed the launch of new service to Busan.

On March 27, 2022, Finnair will launch their new route to Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) with four weekly flights and seamless onward connections via American Airlines’ extensive U.S. network. The carrier will also start new service to Seattle, with three weekly flights from June 1st. Finnair also offers daily service to New York (JFK) and Chicago (ORD), as well as three weekly flights to Los Angeles (LAX). Additionally, the carrier operates daily service between Stockholm Arlanda and New York, as well as four weekly flights to Los Angeles.

As previously mentioned, Finnair will operate a robust European schedule for summer 2022 with service to nearly 70 destinations. The carrier will offer multiple daily frequencies to popular Southern European leisure destinations such as Alicante, Chania, Lisbon, Malaga, Nice, Porto and Rhodes. Travelers looking for a city break will also enjoy service to key European cities including Amsterdam, Berlin, Brussels, Hamburg, London, Milan, Paris, Prague and Rome. In Scandinavia and the Baltics, Finnair will offer multiple daily flights to Stockholm, Copenhagen, Tallinn, Riga and Vilnius.

Specializing in passenger and cargo traffic between Asia and Europe, Finnair is a modern premium network airline with a competitive advantage due to their geographical location. Sustainability is at the heart of everything Finnair does, and the carrier is committed to cutting their net emissions by 50 percent by the end of 2025 (compared to a 2019 baseline) and achieving carbon neutrality by the end of 2045. In 2022, Finnair plans to serve nearly 100 destinations in Europe, Asia and the U.S., with new long-haul routes to Busan (South Korea) and Tokyo-Haneda (Japan), as well as Dallas and Seattle (U.S.). The carrier is also a member of the global oneworld® alliance and its shares are traded on the Nasdaq Helsinki stock exchange.
