Subject to regulatory approval, Etihad Airways will launch new twice-weekly service on Mondays and Fridays from Abu Dhabi to Guangzhou, China starting October 10, 2022. The route will initially be served with a two-class Boeing 777-300ER.
On Monday (September 12, 2022), Etihad Airways announced that pending regulatory approval they will launch new twice-weekly service between Abu Dhabi and Guangzhou in China. The route will initially be operated with a Boeing 777-300ER. Flights will depart Abu Dhabi on Mondays and Fridays, while the return flights from Guangzhou will operate on Wednesdays and Sundays. Etihad announced in 2021 their plans to retire their entire 777 fleet, a process which is ongoing. The new Guangzhou route complements the carrier’s existing service to Shanghai and Beijing.
In Monday’s announcement, Etihad Airways’ Senior Vice President – Global Sales and Cargo, Martin Drew, said,
“We are proud to offer our guests a third destination in China as Etihad Airways begins flights to the pivotal and historic port city of Guangzhou. As well as being a modern and rapidly growing city itself, Guangzhou has excellent connections with the Greater Bay Area. Our twice-weekly service will further address the huge demand for passenger travel between the UAE and China, as well as provide new cargo capacity, building on the formidable people and business ties between the two markets.”
With the added service to Guangzhou, from October 12, 2022, Etihad will offer four weekly flights between Abu Dhabi and China, with two weekly flights to Guangzhou and weekly service to Shanghai and Beijing, which resumed in July 2020 and June 2022, respectively.
