Today (July 7, 2020), Etihad Airways announced an expansion of their flight network as UAE travel restrictions are eased. During July and August, as international travel restrictions are lifted and individual markets reopen, the carrier plans to offer 58 worldwide destinations from Abu Dhabi including major gateways in the Middle East, North America, Asia and Australia. The expanded flights will be fully supported by Etihad’s industry-leading ‘Etihad Wellness’ sanitization and safety program, ensuring the highest level of health and safety protocols at every step of the customer journey. The carrier is the first in the industry to provide ‘Wellness Ambassadors’ who have been specially trained to provide essential travel health information on the ground and inflight, offering guests additional peace of mind so they can fly with confidence. In Tuesday’s announcement, Etihad Aviation Group’s Chief Executive Officer, Tony Douglas said,

“We are delighted to announce the gradual expansion of our normal scheduled services to more cities across our global network. The easing of restrictions on travel to and from the UAE is an important first step and a great development for Abu Dhabi. By August we aim to operate approximately 45 percent of our pre-COVID capacity. While we have continued to operate a schedule of special passenger, cargo and humanitarian flights over the last few months, the priority is now to build the network back up on markets that have opened up, and to provide a secure and hygienic flying environment across the entire guest journey. Over the last few months, we have seized every opportunity to improve our processes, review our product offering, and to undertake the biggest fleet maintenance programme in our history. We are tremendously grateful to our customers and our partners for their continued loyalty.”

For summer 2020, subject to government approvals, Etihad Airways will resume North American service to Chicago, New York-JFK, Toronto and Washington DC. The carrier’s offer to European destinations will include Athens, Barcelona, Belgrade, Brussels, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Geneva, Istanbul, London-Heathrow, Madrid, Manchester, Milan, Moscow, Munich, Paris-CDG, Rome and Zurich. Etihad will serve many popular destinations in the Middle East and Africa including Amman, Bahrain, Beirut, Cairo, Casablanca, Kuwait, Muscat, Rabat and the Seychelles. This summer, the airline will also have a substantial number of Asian destinations on offer including service to Ahmedabad, Baku, Bangkok, Bengaluru, Chennai, Colombo, Delhi, Hyderabad, Islamabad, Jakarta, Karachi, Kochi, Kolkata, Kozhikode, Kuala Lumpur, Lahore, Male, Manila, Mumbai, Seoul, Singapore, Thiruvananthapuram and Tokyo. Finally, Etihad Airways will resume Australasian service to Melbourne and Sydney.
