Etihad Airways Announces Special Transfer Flights Linking 20 Cities Through Abu Dhabi

Etihad Airways announced on Thursday the launch of special transfer flights which will link 20 cities in Europe, Asia and Australia via Abu Dhabi. The new flights will allow guests traveling on the airline’s current network to seamlessly connect onward to global destinations.

Today, Etihad Airways announced the launch of special transfer flights that will link 20 key cities in Europe, Asia and Australia via Abu Dhabi from June 10, 2020. The new flights will make it possible for travelers on the carrier’s current network to connect seamlessly to onward global destinations. Etihad will continue to operate a network of special flights throughout June from Abu Dhabi to previously announced destinations across their international network. With the new flights, easy transfer connections via Abu Dhabi will now be available from Jakarta, Karachi, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne, Seoul, Singapore, Sydney and Tokyo to key European cities including Amsterdam, Barcelona, Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, Geneva, London-Heathrow, Madrid, Milan, Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Zurich.


In a separate announcement Thursday, Etihad Airways announced an expansion of earn and spend opportunities for members of the Etihad Guest loyalty program through an expanded partnership with Air Canada’s Aeroplan. Both Etihad Guest and Aeroplan members will now be able to earn and spend reciprocally across the networks of both carriers. In Thursday’s announcement, Etihad’s Vice President – Commercial Partnerships, Yasser Al Yousuf said,


“This is a welcome expansion of Etihad’s existing codeshare agreement with Air Canada, that will bring additional benefits to Etihad Guest members. In these current times, partnerships such as these are important for ensuring confidence and instilling loyalty and trust in the aviation industry so that you, our guests, know we are committed to bringing you the very best experience when you choose to travel again. This is an exciting addition to the range of travel and lifestyle partners bringing benefits to Etihad Guests 7 million members worldwide, helping to secure our loyalty programme as one of the most rewarding in the industry.”


When operating at full capacity, Etihad Airways offers five weekly services from Abu Dhabi to Toronto and connects guests to a further 75 global destinations, with five routes from North America to the East and beyond. Etihad guests transiting through Abu Dhabi from the East will enjoy the convenience of Etihad’s USA pre-clearance, the only United States Customs and Border Control (CBP) facility in the Middle East. This convenient service allows passengers bound for North America to process all immigration, customs and agricultural inspections before leaving Abu Dhabi.
