Emirates has signed a codeshare agreement with Azul, which will allow customers traveling from eight Brazilian cities to connect to the carrier’s global network via Sao Paulo. The agreement has been approved by the Brazilian Federal Aviation Agency.
On Wednesday (August 18, 2021), Emirates announced the signing of a new codeshare agreement with Azul Linhas Aereas Brazileiras S. A. (Azul). Under the agreement, which has been approved by the Brazilian Federal Aviation Agency, Azul customers traveling from eight cities in Brazil can seamlessly connect to the Emirates global network via Sao Paulo. The airports in the codeshare include Rio de Janeiro Santos Dumont (SDU), Belem (BEL), Belo Horizonte (CNF), Cuiaba (CGB), Curtiba (CWB), Juazeiro Do Norte (JDO), Porto Alegre (POA) and Recife (REC). The Azul operated flights will seamlessly connect to Emirates flights to Dubai and beyond on a single ticket via Sao Paulo.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim, said,
“Emirates is delighted to be entering into a codeshare partnership with Azul to offer our customers an enhanced, smooth and convenient connectivity between eight cities in Brazil to/ from Dubai and our global network through Sao Paulo. Brazil is an important market for Emirates and our cooperation with Azul underscores Emirates’ commitment to strengthen our reach in the region and open up more options for our customers. With one ticket, our customers can access a seamless experience through check-in, bag check and boarding on every leg of their journey. We look forward to working with Azul and strengthening our partnership in the days to come.”
Also commenting on the new codeshare partnership, Azul’s Chief Revenue Officer, Abhi Shah, said,

Emirates has codeshare agreements in place with 21 global airlines and two rail companies, as well as interline agreements with over 106 airlines and rail companies. Emirates currently operates five weekly Boeing 777-300ER flights to Sao Paulo. Dubai is open for travelers from Brazil with visa on arrival for business, fun and tourism. The cosmopolitan city is also a perfect stopover for Brazilian travelers on their way to other popular holiday destinations in Emirates’ global network such as the Maldives and Cairo.
Azul is the largest airline in Brazil based on the number of departures and cities served. The carrier offers around 700 daily departures to over 120 destinations and operates a fleet of over 160 aircraft. Azul employs more than 12,000 and has a network of more than 200 nonstop routes.
