On Sunday (January 15, 2023), Emirates announced that they will double service to Brisbane with two daily flights starting June 1st, 2023. The route will be operated with a Boeing 777-300ER with flight EK430 departing Dubai at 04:30 and arriving in Brisbane at 22:20. The return flight, EK431 will depart Brisbane at 02:50 and arrive in Dubai at 11:00 (all times local). Brisbane is currently served with an Airbus A380. The additional 777 service restores the carrier’s Brisbane service to pre-pandemic levels.

In Sunday’s announcement, Emirates’ Divisional Vice President – Australasia, Barry Brown, said,

“Our second daily service to Brisbane begins as we proudly celebrate 20 years of flying to the sunshine state. Not only will this service cater to the demand of Australians looking to travel overseas, but also welcome more travellers and tourists from Dubai and across our global network to enjoy Queensland, Australia’s tourism mecca. The additional service combined with our daily A380 to Brisbane means Emirates will offer almost 12,000 seats to and from Brisbane every week. This is another important milestone in the resumption of our Australian capacity and reaffirms our longstanding commitment to flying down under. We look forward to welcoming more Australians on board to enjoy the Emirates experience.”

Also commenting on the increased route frequency, Brisbane Airport Corporation’s CEO, Gert-Jan de Graaff, added,

“This is a huge vote of confidence in the Brisbane and Queensland market. It effectively doubles overnight the Emirates capacity between the two cities, delivering more seats for major Middle East and European markets. In terms of rebuilding what was lost by covid, this is a significant brick in the wall.”

In a separate press release on Monday (January 16, 2023), Emirates further announced that they will resume passenger service to Shanghai and Beijing. Shanghai service will be offered twice weekly with an Airbus A380 from January 20, 2023. Flight EK302 will fly to Shanghai direct, while the return flight (EK303) will make a short stop in Bangkok before returning to Dubai. Flight EK302 will depart Dubai at 03:45 and arrive in Shanghai at 15:40. The return flight, EK303, will depart Shanghai at 17:40 and will arrive in Bangkok at 21:45 before taking off again at 23:20 and arriving in Dubai at 03:20+1 (all times local). Starting February 2, 2023, service will ramp up to four times weekly with a three class Boeing 777-300ER.

The Dubai-Shanghai route frequency will further be increased to daily from March 1st, 2023. Flight EK304 will depart Dubai at 09:15 and arrive in Shanghai at 21:05, while the return flight, EK303, will take off from Shanghai at 23:00 and arrive in Dubai at 05:20+1 (all times local).

Currently, Emirates also operates direct service from Dubai to Guangzhou as EK362, and return flights via Bangkok as EK363 four times weekly. From February 1st, 2023, the route between Dubai and Guangzhou will operate daily as EK362/EK363 with a flagship Emirates Airbus A380. Flight EK362 will depart Dubai at 10:45 and arrive in Guangzhou at 21:45, while the return flight, EK363, will depart Guangzhou at 00:15 and arrive in Dubai at 05:15 (all times local).

Emirates will also resume daily nonstop service to Beijing from March 15, 2023 with a Boeing 777-300ER. Flight EK308 will depart Dubai at 10:50 and arrive in Beijing at 2:20, while the return flight, EK307 will take off from Beijing at 00:40 and arrive in Dubai at 05:00 (all times local).
