Today, Emirates announced new service from Dubai (DXB) to Penang International Airport (PEN) in Malaysia via Singapore (SIN). The route will be operated daily from April 9, 2020 and operated with a Boeing 777-300ER. The aircraft is arranged in a three-class configuration with eight private First Class suites, 42 lie-flat Business Class seats and 304 spacious Economy Class seats. The new route provides convenient onward connections between the Northern cities of Malaysia from Emirates’ Dubai hub to the Middle East, Europe and North America.

Penang is located on the Northwest coast of Malaysia and encompasses a mainland as well as an island which is connected by the two longest road bridges in Malaysia. Penang is also the country’s second largest city (after Kuala Lumpur) and offers travelers a rich multicultural heritage, stunning architecture as well as modern entertainment, retail and dining options. Additionally, the city is famous for the natural beauty of its beaches and hills along with many tourist attractions. Penang is home to a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is also an economic powerhouse in Malaysia, attracting business travelers from around the world. In Monday’s announcement, Emirates’ Chief Commercial Officer, Adnan Kazim said,

“Penang is a major centre for tourism, business travel, as well as medical tourism and the increased levels of inbound travel is consistent with the growth in numbers of visitors to the country. We have been serving Malaysia through our flights to Kuala Lumpur for more than 20 years, with three-times daily service, and the introduction of flights to Penang will help us meet growing demand from leisure and business travelers, both to and from Malaysia. We are also pleased that the fifth freedom flights between Penang and Singapore will connect two sister cities and increase connectivity for passengers in Southeast Asia.”

Emirates’ guests on the new route will enjoy industry-leading comfort across all cabins and unparalleled service from a multi-national crew, including Malaysian nationals. Additionally, customers will be entertained by the airline's “ice” inflight entertainment system (IFE), with over 4,500 channels of on-demand audio and video entertainment including music, movies and games. Naturally, customers will be treated to regionally inspired meals and complimentary beverages as part of Emirates' award-winning service. Families traveling with children will also experience Emirates’ dedicated products and services that enable a hassle-free journey.
