European low-cost carrier easyJet announced on Thursday the launch of ‘easyJet holidays’ hoping to shake up the holiday business sector after the collapse of Thomas Cook earlier this year.
EasyJet isn’t about to let TUI and other holiday travel organizations to fill the void left by the collapse of venerable Thomas Cook Company last September. On Thursday, the budget airline announced the launch of ‘easyJet holidays’ where customers can now seamlessly book their flights with a selection of handpicked hotels in over 100 destinations. EasyJet holiday customers will be given a complimentary checked baggage allowance of 23kgs and a choice of over 5,000 hotels along with the flexibility to choose exactly how many nights they wish to stay.
For the first time, easyJet holidays has contracted directly with a range of hotels to meet the personal needs of holidaymakers. For example, the company’s bespoke hotel collections allow beach holiday customers to choose ‘Luxury’ or ‘Undiscovered’ hotel properties, for those wishing for a more authentic local experience. Customers who choose to take a city holiday can choose between ‘Luxury’ or ‘Boutique’ hotel properties.
The rollout of easyJet holidays also includes a new dedicated website with advanced mapping technologies to provide customers with a quick and seamless booking experience. The website will also use AI to personalize the customer experience and include TripAdvisor ratings to help customers select a hotel. In Thursday’s announcement, easyJet Holidays’ Chief Executive, Garry Wilson said,
“easyJet has been a pioneer in transforming travel for over 25 years and we want to bring that to the holidays sector. We know the way people travel is continuously evolving; we know customers want flexibility on when and how they holiday; we know they want to be able to easily pick a hotel to suit their needs and we know they want a hassle-free booking process. We’re really excited to help meet these needs with the launch of our new modern and relevant holidays business.”
EasyJet operates up to 670 daily routes with a fleet of 330 aircraft to over 100 destinations across Europe. EasyJet holidays offers ATOL-protected holidays with a flexible flight program allowing customers to create a personalized and hassle-free holiday itinerary with a choice of over 5,000 hotels across 500 resorts.
