On Monday (March 23, 2026), easyJet announced that in celebration of the opening of their new Newcastle base, easyJet and easyJet holidays have teamed up with Geordie institution Greggs to take sausage rolls to the air as they launch limited-edition sausage roll dipping sauces.  The sauce flavors have been inspired by new easyJet holiday destinations, and include a spin on the French classic Tarte Tatin, an original twist on the much-loved Spanish Sangria, and a Kebab-inspired flavor that delivers a taste of Türkiye.  easyJet cabin crew have already been turning heads, serving up a taste of their new destinations at some of North East’s most famous landmarks including the Tyne Bridge, St James’ Park and the Angel of the North. Newcastle Airport will be home to three easyJet aircraft, supporting approximately 1,200 jobs, including 140 direct roles for pilots and cabin crew.

Today, travelers flying with easyJet from Newcastle Airport will be treated to the much-loved Geordie pastry and destination-inspired dipping sauces for free, to enjoy onboard all of easyJet’s international flights.  Additionally, throughout the week, Geordies have a chance to get their hands on the free limited-edition dipping sauces with a special easyJet cabin crew service landing in Newcastle city centre.  Free sausage rolls and Destination Dips will be available from Monday, March 23rd through Wednesday, March 25th in Newcastle City Centre via an easyJet cabin trolley.

In Monday’s announcement, easyJet holidays’ CEO, Garry Wilson, said,

“We’re thrilled to be launching a new base in Newcastle, driven by the strong demand for our flights and package holidays in the region.  This is a major milestone for us, so partnering with Greggs, a true Geordie icon and one of the city’s most famous exports, felt like the perfect way to celebrate our arrival.  Offering sausage rolls onboard and out in the streets is our way of thanking the North East as we continue to make travel from their local airport easy and affordable.”

Also commenting on the opening of easyJet’s new base, Newcastle Airport’s CEO, Nick Jones, said,

“The launch of easyJet’s new base marks a major milestone for Newcastle Airport and the wider North East region, and we’re delighted to celebrate the occasion in partnership with Greggs.

“With flights now operating to 22 destinations, including direct services to Nice and Lisbon, the base provides even more choice for passengers, with over 800,000 seats available this summer. It also delivers substantial economic benefits through the creation of high‑quality jobs and will attract more inbound visitors to the region.

“easyJet’s investment is a huge vote of confidence in the Airport and the North East and it will play a vital role in helping us meet the growing demand for flights and package holidays as we prepare for our busiest year on record, with six million passengers expected.”

Greggs’ Customer Director, Hannah Squirrell, added,

“As a business born and bred in the North East, we’re excited to be partnering with easyJet to mark the launch of their new base in Newcastle.  This is a fantastic opportunity for the local community, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than with a Sausage Roll!”
