easyJet Appoints Sophie Dekkers as New Chief Commercial Officer

Sophie Dekkers has been with easyJet since 2007, serving most recently as Customer Director. During her time at the company she has looked after commercial performance as UK Country Director, Scheduling Director and Head of Business.

On Monday (December 7, 2020), easyJet announced the appointment of Sophie Dekkers as Chief Commercial Officer. Ms. Dekkers has been with the company since 2007 and has served in a variety of roles, most recently as the carrier’s Customer Director. She was previously responsible for commercial performance as UK Country Director and has held positions such as as Director of Scheduling and Head of Business. In her new role, Dekkers will be responsible for Network and Planning, Scheduling, Commercial and Digital. The appointment is effective immediately, following the resignation of Robert Carey. easyJet’s Group Markets Director, Thomas Haagensen will take over Mr. Carey’s responsibilities for the marketing and customer teams as Group Marketing and Markets Director. In Monday’s announcement, easyJet’s CEO, Johan Lundgren, said,


“I am delighted to have appointed Sophie Dekkers as Chief Commercial Officer. She has a wealth of experience at easyJet in a diverse range of roles so the huge depth and breadth of knowledge of the airline and commercial acumen will serve us very well going forward. I look forward to welcoming Sophie to the Management Board.”


easyJet carries over 100M passengers annually on 1,061 routes to 159 airports in 36 countries (pre-pandemic figures). The airline has a fleet of more than 334 aircraft and over 300M Europeans live within an hour’s drive of an airport served by easyJet. The 25 year old low-cost carrier is dedicated to innovation and leads the industry in digital, web, engineering and operational efficiencies. easyJet was named “Britain’s Most Admired Company” in the transport sector for 2019, based on the longest running annual corporate reputation study in the UK.
