easyJet Appoints Robert Birge as New Chief Customer and Marketing Officer

easyJet has appointed Robert Birge as the carrier’s new Chief Customer and Marketing Officer, effective later this month. Mr. Birge joins easyJet from ASOS, where he served as Chief Customer Officer.

On Tuesday (August 2, 2022) easyJet announced the appointment of Robert Birge as the airline’s new Chief Customer and Marketing Officer, effective later this month. His new role on the company’s management board combines a number of key areas including Marketing, Digital, Customer Service, Customer Experience, and Insight. Mr. Birge is an accomplished leader with a record of delivering marketing and customer success across travel brands, ecommerce, online clothing and consumer brands, for both startups and large companies. He joins easyJet most recently from ASOS, where he served as Chief Customer Officer. Prior to his tenure at ASOS, Birge spent six years as Chief marketing Officer at KAYAK, and he was also part of the original start-up team behind the U.S. online travel agency, Orbitz.

In Tuesday’s announcement, easyJet’s CEO, Johan Lundgren, said,


“Robert brings with him a wealth of experience from a range of travel and consumer brands. Continually innovating how we deliver our unique easyJet customer experience is a key focus area for the airline and so we look forward to welcoming Robert to the airline later this month.”


Also commenting on his new role at easyJet, Robert Birge, added,

I'm incredibly excited about the strategic vision, quality and energy of the airline management board, and I look forward to working with them to shape the future of the customer experience and brand.”

easyJet carries nearly 100 million passengers annually on around 1,000 routes to over 130 airports in 31 countries. The airline has a fleet of over 300 aircraft, and over 300 million Europeans live within an hour’s drive of an airport served by easyJet. The 25 plus year old low-cost carrier is dedicated to innovation and leads the industry in digital, web, engineering and operational efficiencies. easyJet was named “Britain’s Most Admired Company” in the transport sector for 2020, based on the longest running annual corporate reputation study in the UK.
