Dorothea von Boxberg to Become CEO of Brussels Airlines From April 15, 2023

Lufthansa Cargo AG’s Chairperson of the Executive Board, Dorothea von Boxberg is set to become CEO of Brussels Airlines from April 15, 2023, subject to the pending resolution by the Board of Directors of SN Airholding.

On Thursday (March 23, 2023), Lufthansa Cargo AG announced that their Chairperson of the Executive Board, Dorothea von Boxberg, will become CEO of Brussels Airlines effective April 15, 2023. The appointment remains subject to the pending resolution by the Board of Directors of SN Airholding. In her new role, she will also assume the function of ‘Representative of the Executive Board to the European Commission.’ The long-term successor for Dorothea von Boxberg at Lufthansa Cargo will be announced as soon as possible.

In Thursday’s announcement, Lufthansa Group’s Member of the Executive Board and Chair of the Board of Directors of SN Airholding, Christina Foerster, said,


“I am very pleased that Dorothea von Boxberg, an experienced and skilled airline manager from within Lufthansa Group, is assuming the leadership position at Brussels Airlines. With her extensive knowledge and broad understanding of cargo and passenger airlines, she will continue to drive the successful transformation of Brussels Airlines, Belgium's national airline, in the coming years.”


Dorothea von Boxberg started her professional career in 1999 at the Boston Consulting Group and joined Lufthansa in 2007, where she held various management positions. From 2012, she became responsible for Customer Experience Design at the flagship Lufthansa Airline. During her tenure she led a team which developed a new generation of Business Class seats, laying the foundation for the airline’s 5-Star status. In 2015, von Boxberg became head of the Global Sales Management department at Lufthansa Cargo AG and in 2018, she was appointed to the Executive Board, with responsibility for worldwide sales, network planning, product management and product development. Since 2021, Dorothea von Boxberg has led Lufthansa Cargo AG as Chairperson of the Executive Board.
