On Monday (September 22, 2025), Discover Airlines announced an extension and expansion of their successful partnership with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers until 2030.  As part of the expanded partnership, both brands plan joint marketing and communication activities, now with targeted measures both in Germany and the U.S.  In the future, Discover Airlines will also be represented at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, including perimeter and stadium TV advertising. Discover’s goal is to further increase awareness of the airline in Florida, while inspiring even more U.S. travelers to visit Europe.

In Monday’s announcement, Discover Airlines’ CEO, Bernd Bauer, said,

“After just one year, we can already see how well this partnership is working – both at the brand level and with the target groups.  We are seeing an increasing number of guests from America on our Florida flights.  Against this backdrop, it is only logical to strengthen our brand presence in this destination area as well. And what could be more natural than combining a passion for American football with the joy of travel – both bring people together, move them and inspire them.”

Discover Airlines is the exclusive airline offering nonstop flights between Germany and Tampa Bay, with up to daily service.  The carrier operates approximately 20 weekly flights to Florida including Tampa Bay, Fort Myers, and Orlando, which is the most comprehensive flight service from Germany to the Sunshine State.

Today’s partnership expansion announcement also coincides with the Buccaneers' 50th anniversary in the NFL.  In celebration, throughout the team’s anniversary season, the airline is giving away 50 tickets to Europe.  At the home opener of the new season yesterday (September 21st), Discover Airlines’ CEO Bernd Bauer personally gave out the first tickets to winners at the stadium.

Also commenting on the partnership expansion, Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ Chief Commercial Officer, Atul Khosla, added,

“Our 50th Season is the perfect stage to expand our relationship with Discover Airlines.  From positioning Tampa Bay as a premier destination to offering fans the chance to win 50 flights to Germany, this partnership showcases how two brands can come together to create memorable fan experiences, with Discover serving as a true gateway to Europe and beyond for Bucs fans.”

Discover Airlines has also been running an eye-catching marketing campaign in the Frankfurt area since September 21st, where thousands of pizza boxes in participating pizzerias feature the Discover Airlines and Buccaneers logos.  With this promotion, Frankfurt area pizza fans can also score tickets for flights to Florida and a Bucs game live at the stadium.

Headquartered in Frankfurt, Discover Airlines is Lufthansa Group’s quality leisure airline in Germany, flying travelers from Frankfurt and Munich to the most beautiful holiday destinations worldwide.  Through its full integration into the Lufthansa Group network and codeshare partnerships with Air Canada and United Airlines, Discover Airlines offers travelers a wide range of end-to-end bookings and seamless transfers.  Currently, the airline operates a fleet of 30 aircraft and employs around 2,100 team members.
