Delta Elevates Onboard Dining Experience for Summer 2024 With Chef-Designed Meals

For summer 2024, Delta Air Lines will introduce more options, new snacks and chef-designed meals for an elevated onboard dining experience.

On Thursday (May 30, 2024), Delta Air Lines announced that for summer 2024 they will introduce more options, new snacks and chef-designed meals, including allergen-friendly snacks and the latest iteration of their award-winning rotational wine program.  Additionally, Delta Premium Select customers now have the option to pre-select meals prior to travel.

In Thursday’s announcement, Delta Air Lines’ SVP – Inflight Service, Kristen Manion Taylor, said,

“Our onboard food and beverage service is an integral part of the customer journey.  We know customers crave variety along with a taste of the familiar—that’s why our goal with every seasonal menu refresh is to balance new flavors with reimagined classics, all while maintaining our high standards of quality.”

As part of Delta’s chef-curated 2024 menu, guests can enjoy Asian favorites designed by global restaurateur and pioneering chef, Jereme Leung, who is known for combining culinary traditional with modern international elements.  With the launch of new Seattle-Taipei service in June, Delta One guests can sample Chef Leung’s takes on Asian classics such as braised brisket with stir-fried beans, or Chao Zhou preserved olives, potato, tomato, and steamed rice.  Other hearty selections include avocado and crab meat salad with tobiko fish roe, and soup noodles with minced pork, shiitake mushrooms, greens and carrots.  The Chef Leung craft menu will also be available from Seattle (SEA) and Detroit (DTW) to Shanghai Pudong (PVG).

Delta customers departing Atlanta on select domestic flights over 900 miles can also enjoy meals curated by James Beard-award winning Chef Mashama Bailey.  From June 2024, domestic First Class guests can savor hearty Southern favorites like the Fox Bros. Bar-B-Q’s short-rib open-faced sandwich with sweet pickles and a side of cheddar and broccoli, or the smoked chicken salad with cabbage and beet slaw, crumbled queso fresco and toasted pepitas.  The tasty meals can also be topped off with the delightful down-home banana pudding.

Delta One guests departing Paris-Charles de Gaulle to the U.S. this summer will have their choice of roasted chicken breast with chicken jus, artichoke-filled pasts with tomato cream sauce, and more.  For dessert, they can indulge in a Paris-Brest with praline cream and almonds.  Between July and August, Delta One customers departing Paris can also enjoy two limited selections by Chef Guy Martin of Le Grand Véfour restaurant in Paris, which has previously received three Michelin stars.  Chef Martin is a highly decorated French chef, the author of numerous cook books, and host of the television program Épicerie Fine.  Dishes include slow-cooked lamb shoulder in rosemary sauce with summer vegetables, or haddock accompanied by tarragon polenta, asparagus and buttered peas in shellfish sauce.

Delta One Guests traveling from New York (JFK) to Los Angeles (LAX) or San Francisco (SFO) can enjoy tasty dishes from Union Square Events, a Danny Meyer concept, such as pastrami short rib with BBQ jus, or chicken scarpariello with roasted lemon.  Additionally, Delta Premium Select customers on select transoceanic routes departing the U.S. can enjoy makhani chicken curry with tomato chickpea stew or three-cheese manicotti with Bianco DiNapoli tomato sauce.  Customers traveling in Main Cabin and Delta Comfort+® will also have more choices for their pre-arrival entrees, with the option of a salt or savory option for their entrée on long-haul international flights.  Selections include a spinach, egg and cheese calzone or a chocolate hazelnut calzone.

First Class and Delta One customers on select domestic routes can also indulge in the limited selection ‘Wellness Entrée’, designed with a focus on lean protein, whole grains and fresh vegetables, all created without the nine major food allergens.  The hearty, simple-prepared roasted chicken is served with quinoa, green beans, roasted carrots and Roma tomato.  Main Cabin customers can indulge in a soft-baked 88 Acres Dark Chocolate Sea Salt bar from late May, which delivers a homemade cookie taste without gluten or nuts.
