Delta Air Lines Names Shawn Cole as VP of Global Sales and Rob Walpole as VP Delta Cargo

The carrier has announced leadership changes in Global Sales and Delta Cargo to prepare for future success. Effective December 1st, Shawn Cole will become Delta’s Vice President – Global Sales, while Rob Walpole will be named Vice President – Delta Cargo.

On Monday (November 30, 2020), Delta Air Lines announced key leadership changes in Global Sales and Delta Cargo as the carrier prepares for post-pandemic success. Effective today (December 1st), Shawn Cole will become Delta’s Vice President – Global Sales and will focus on identifying synergies with Delta’s portfolio of corporate and travel management companies. Mr. Cole will report to Bob Somers, Senior Vice President – Global Sales. Shawn Cole served most recently as Vice President of Delta Cargo where he delivered positive revenue growth and enhanced relationships with the carrier’s joint venture partners. Over the past three years, Mr. Cole also served as the Chairman of SkyTeam Cargo.

In Monday’s announcement, Delta’s Senior Vice President – Global Sales, Bob Somers, said,


“Shawn’s experience leading teams across the Finance and Cargo divisions make him uniquely qualified for this position. During the past year, he has worked alongside the Global Sales team to develop new product offerings for our global customers supporting their growing cargo needs as a result of the pandemic.”


Delta also named Rob Walpole as Vice President – Delta Cargo on Monday. Rob will report to Steve Sear, Delta’s Executive Vice President – Global Sales and President – International. To ensure the cargo business is a more integral part of Delta’s commercial portfolio, the division will join the carrier’s Commercial organization. In yesterday’s announcement, Mr. Sear commented,

“Through his prior leadership of global commercial organization and focus on focus on operational excellence both internally and with our airline partners, Rob is well equipped to lead the Delta Cargo team on a path of continued growth and innovation.”


Rob Walpole joined Delta in August 2019 to lead Cargo’s Global Operations and Logistics organization, bringing to the position extensive leadership experience in logistics and supply chain management.
