Airbus has today announced that China Airlines has placed an incremental firm order for five additional Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, expanding their order for the type to 15. These aircraft will join the carrier’s existing fleet of 15 A350-900s.

On Thursday (December 18, 2025), Airbus announced that Taiwan-based China Airlines has placed a firm order for five additional Airbus A350-1000 aircraft, taking their total order for the type to 15. These aircraft will join the carrier’s existing fleet of 15 A350-900s. The A350 can fly up to 9,800 nautical miles (18,000 km) non-stop, setting new standards for intercontinental travel. With state-of-the-art technologies and advanced aerodynamics, the aircraft delivers superior standards of efficiency and comfort. Powered by the latest generation Rolls-Royce engines, and constructed with the use of lightweight materials, the A350 delivers a 25 percent reduction in fuel burn and CO2 emissions compared to previous generation competitor aircraft.
In Thursday’s announcement, China Airlines’ Chairman, Kao Shing-Hwang, said,
“Expanding our A350-1000 fleet marks another important step in our long-term growth strategy. The A350’s exceptional efficiency and passenger comfort align with our goals to modernise our fleet, enhance long-haul competitiveness and deliver an elevated travel experience to our customers.”
Also commenting on the incremental A350-1000 order, Airbus’ EVP – Commercial Aircraft Sales, Benoit de Saint-Exupéry, said,
“We greatly value our long-standing partnership with China Airlines. This follow-on order is a strong vote of confidence in the A350-1000 as the right aircraft for China Airlines’ future network ambitions. Its next-generation efficiency, range and cabin comfort will bring even greater value to the airline and its passengers.”
Like all in-production Airbus aircraft, the A350 can already operate with up to 50 percent SAF. Airbus aims to have all aircraft 100 percent SAF capable by 2030. As of November 30, 2025, the Airbus A350 Family had won nearly 1,500 ordered from 66 customers worldwide.
