From January 5, 2021, the carrier will launch a once weekly freighter flight between Hong Kong and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia which will operate on Tuesdays. The inaugural Cathay Pacific Cargo flight to Riyadh will be operated with a Boeing 747-400 ERF.
On Monday (January 4, 2021), Cathay Pacific announced the launch of freighter service between Hong Kong and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia starting January 5, 2021. The once weekly flight will operate on Tuesdays and the route will be serviced with a Boeing 747-400 ERF. The return flight will make an interim stopover in Dubai. Cathay Pacific Cargo has recently launched several new cargo flights to meet increasing demand including seasonal service between Hong Kong and Hobart, Australia which launched on December 16, 2020. The Hobart service provides an important airfreight lane for the export of fresh produce from Australia to various Asian destinations vis Hong Kong. Last September, the airline also launched a temporary freight service to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (U.S.) to meet a seasonal surge in demand. Additionally, Cathay Pacific has been operating thousands of cargo-only passenger flights along with a full schedule of dedicated freighter flights.
