The new complimentary COVID-19 coverage is underwritten by AXA General Insurance Hong Kong Limited and includes medical expenses if a guest is diagnosed with COVID-19 while traveling overseas.
On Monday (December 7, 2020), Cathay Pacific announced the introduction of new complimentary COVID-19 insurance coverage which will be automatically included for guests traveling through February 28, 2021. The coverage is underwritten by AXA General Insurance Hong Kong Limited and includes COVID-19 related medical expenses, if a customer is diagnosed positive while traveling overseas. The policy covers COVID-19 PCR tests and hospitalization, if necessary, up to US $200,000. Additionally, impacted guests will receive up to US $100/day for unforeseen mandatory quarantine expenses for a maximum of 14 days. Cathay Pacific will also guarantee the evacuation and repatriation of impacted customers, their children and travel companions.
Affected customers can call AXA’s 24/7 Emergency Assistance hotline at +852 2863 5785 or via a WhatsApp message at +852 2863 5784. Cathay Pacific guests are covered for earlier of 30 days from the date of their departure or until they return home.
The health and safety of guests and team members is Cathay Pacific’s number one priority and the carrier has implemented enhanced measures across every stage of the journey. Some of the multi-layered health and safety measures include temperature checks, contactless check-in and boarding, antimicrobial coatings on check-in counters, kiosks and other common areas, mandatory face coverings, and enhanced aircraft cleaning and sanitization. Additionally, all Cathay Pacific aircraft feature HEPA filters which remove up to 99.999% of airborne contaminants as the air is refreshed every two to three minutes.
