On Tuesday (December 12, 2023), Brussels Airlines announced the launch of the maiden flight with their first Airbus A320neo, registration OO-SBA.  The inaugural flight, SN2905, departed Brussels for Vienna at 15:45 local time, and guests onboard were surprised with a special gift, a birth card and ‘suikerbonen/dragées, traditional chocolates that are distributed to celebrate a birth in Belgium.  The new aircraft was delivered to the carrier on November 1st, with Brussels Airlines’ Maintenance and Engineering team performing the last trims and finishes prior to Tuesday’s maiden flight.

The new A320neo is the very first-ever brand new aircraft delivered to Brussels Airlines.

Thanks to new generation engines and advanced Sharklets, the Airbus A320neo offers a fuel and emissions reduction of 20 percent, as well as a 50 percent smaller noise footprint compared to previous generation aircraft.  The aircraft also features a roomy cabin, 40 percent larger overhead bins and a modern LED lighting system.
