On Wednesday (September 18, 2024), British Airways announced the launch of new service between London Heathrow (LHR) and Tbilisi, Georgia (TBS).  Starting March 30, 2025, the route will operate four times weekly with an Airbus A320neo.  Travelers can seamlessly connect  to Tbilisi via LHR from eight UK airports, including Edinburgh, Belfast and Manchester.  Flight times have also been optimized to allow inbound customers to London to connect to U.S. destinations such as New York (JFK), or other European destinations including Madrid and Barcelona. Return flights are now available for booking from £275, with two-night British Airways Holiday packages from £369 per person (T&Cs apply).

In Wednesday’s announcement, British Airways’ Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, Neil Chernoff, said,

“We’re delighted to welcome Tbilisi back into our route network, after our last scheduled service in 2013.  We expect this to be a popular route with the leisure market, which has seen a strong comeback since 2019, as well as with those looking to enjoy direct flights to visit friends and family.  We look forward to improving the connectivity between our two capital cities next year.”

Also commenting on British Airways’ new Tbilisi route, Georgia's Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Mariam Kvrivishvili, said,

“We are proud that flagship carrier British Airways has decided to enter the Georgian market, which is important recognition for our country.  This will significantly boost Georgia’s awareness within the UK market and improve connectivity with the USA, which is a strategic partner country of Georgia.”
