On Wednesday (February 24, 2021), British Airways announced the launch of two new fare brands, namely Select and Select Pro, which offer customers the flexibility to cancel a flight and receive a full or partial refund as well as fee-free flight changes. The new fares are bookable today, exclusively for agents via GDS and NDC (Global Distribution Systems/New Distribution Capability) and will sit alongside the current Basic, Standard/Plus and Fully flexible fares. Select fares will be available on short and long-haul routes, while Select Pro fares will be available on long-haul routes.

In Wednesday’s announcement, British Airways’ Head of Global Sales, Mark Muren, said,

“We have launched these fares in response to the challenging environment we find ourselves in. We recognize that our trade partners want flexibility when they book with us, and we hope that today’s launch gives them even more options to achieve this, with the choice to refund a ticket should their customers’ plans change.”

The new trade fares will cost from an extra £50 for short-haul return flights and from an additional £100 for long-haul return flights, when compared to the current Standard/Plus fares. British Airways’ ‘book with confidence’ commitment offering free flight changes and the ability to receive a voucher will still apply for all Basic, Standard/Plus, Fully Flexible, Select and Select Pro bookings. If a customer’s flight is canceled, as always, they will be entitled to a full refund.
