Bonza has today launched new service between Melbourne (Tullamarine) and Tamworth, connecting Australia’s Country Music Capital with its Cuisine Capital. The route will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays with one-way fares from $59 per person.
On Tuesday (May 2, 2023), Bonza announced the launch of new service e between Melbourne (Tullamarine) and Tamworth. The route will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays with one-way fares from $59 per person. Customers and guests onboard the inaugural flight were greeted in Tamworth by the local community, including country music star and Bonza Local Legend Ashleigh Dallas. This Saturday, May 6, 2023, Bonza will also launch a new route between Tamworth and Sunshine Coast. This route will also operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Fridays from May 14, 2023 with one-way fares from $49 per person.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Bonza’s CEO Tim Jordan, said,
“We are thrilled to launch our first ever flight to Tamworth today from our second base at Melbourne Tullamarine. From today, Aussies living in the New England region can take advantage of low-cost flights to Melbourne for their favourite sporting events, theatre shows and food adventures. Melbournians can now explore Australia’s backyard with a country NSW experience including Australian Country Music Hall of Fame, the Big Golden Guitar, art galleries and museums. From Tamworth, travellers can take in the wide open spaces of the New England region including World-Heritage listed National Parks.”
Melbourne (Tullamarine) Airport’s CEO, Lorie Argus, added,
“This is the first time Melbourne Airport has had a direct link to Tamworth and these new flights will help connect families, friends, business, tourists and music lovers. As Australia’s capital of culture, Melbourne shares a natural connection with the nation’s capital of country music, and we think this new route will strike the right chord with people looking to explore different parts of the country.”
Also commenting on the new service, Tamworth Region’s Mayor, Russell Wedd, said,
“The flights will create a significant link for all travellers including those on business trips, locals planning their next holiday and will create more opportunity to welcome additional tourism to our region from new markets. We are very pleased to welcome a low-cost carrier like Bonza to the region – increasing our connectivity.”
Bonza is Australia’s new, and only independent low-cost carrier (LCC), enabling Australians to explore more of their own backyard at low prices. The airline currently operates a fleet of five brand new Boeing 737-8 MAX aircraft, which will grow to eight by the end of the first year of operations. Bonza’s initial route map includes 27 routes to 17 destinations. Over 90 percent of Bonza routes are not served by any airline, and 96 percent are not served by a low-cost carrier. The lowest fares are now available for booking on the FlyBonza App.
