From the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow today, Pratt & Whitney announced that aircraft lessor Avolon has selected GTF™ engines to power up to 160 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft.
On Tuesday (July 23, 2024), Pratt & Whitney announced from the 2024 Farnborough International Airshow that global aircraft lessor Avolon has selected GTF engines to power up to 160 Airbus A320neo Family jets. The agreement is Avolon’s first direct GTF engine order, and will power 80 Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, with options and engines to power an additional 80 aircraft. With the new engine order, Avolon will have 158 GTF-powered aircraft in their delivered and committed fleet. This order represents Pratt & Whitney’s largest-ever GTF engine transaction with an aircraft lessor. Currently, Avolon also has 81 Pratt & Whitney V2500-powered Airbus A320ceo aircraft and 39 GTF-powered A320neo Family aircraft in their delivered fleet.
In Tuesday’s announcement, Pratt & Whitney’s President – Commercial Engines, Rick Deurloo, said,
“We are building on our collaboration with Avolon, who remains at the forefront of the lessor community. GTF engines will provide Avolon's customers with unmatched fuel efficiency and the lowest carbon emissions available for single aisle aircraft.”
Also commenting on the milestone engine order, Avolon’s CEO, Andy Cronin, added,
“These engines will power our large orderbook of A320neo family aircraft and put us in an excellent position to service our customers' narrowbody requirements out to 2030 and beyond. Engine innovation has been one of the key tools to lower emissions and support the industry’s decarbonization journey. We value Pratt & Whitney’s strong customer focus and are excited about leveraging their GTF engines to support the transition of our fleet to more fuel-efficient technology.”
