Avelo Marks One Year at Lakeland Airport, Launches Service to Long Island and Grand Rapids

Avelo Airlines is celebrating their first anniversary of service to and from Lakeland International Airport in Central Florida with the launch of service to Long Island, New York, and Grand Rapids, Michigan.

On Friday (June 13, 2025), Avelo Airlines celebrated their first anniversary of service to/from Lakeland International Airport (LAL) in Central Florida. To mark the occasion, the carrier announced the launch of nonstop service to two new destinations, including Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) in New York and Gerald R. Ford International Airport (GRR) in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Long Island flights will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays, while Grand Rapids flights will operate twice weekly on Fridays and Mondays. In celebration of the new routes, one-way fares from LAL are now bookable from $39 (T&Cs apply). With the new routes, Avelo now serves seven destinations from Lakeland, Florida. Since launching service at Lakeland International Airport last year, the airline has flown over 100,000 customers on more than 100 flights from LAL.
In Friday’s announcement, Avelo Airlines’ Founder and CEO, Andrew Levy, said,
“It’s our one-year anniversary in Lakeland as we continue to Inspire Travel with two new routes to Long Island and Grand Rapids. These routes expand Avelo’s affordable, convenient and industry-leading reliable air service introduced to the Central Florida region in June 2024. As the only airline offering nonstop service to these destinations from LAL, we are making it more convenient and affordable for our Central Florida Customers to enjoy seven popular vacation destinations.”
In celebration of their first anniversary in Lakeland, Avelo will provide guests aboard their inaugural flight to Grand Rapids today a free ticket to the Grand Rapids Public Museum, which houses the largest collection of Detroit Tigers autographed baseballs, among other notable exhibits.
Avelo now serves seven nonstop destinations from LAL, including Grand Rapids, Mich. (GRR), Nashville, Tenn. (BNA), New Haven, Conn. (HVN), New York / Long Island, N.Y. (ISP), Philadelphia / Delaware Valley (ILG), Rochester, N.Y. (ROC), and San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU).
