Avelo Airlines Announces Six New Routes, Including First International Destination from Wilmington, NC

Avelo Airlines has added six new routes, including three new routes from Charlotte/Concord, North Carolina, Wilmington’s first international route, and all new service to Key West, Florida.

On Thursday (August 14, 2025), Avelo Airlines announced the launch of six new routes.  Starting December 24, 2025, the carrier will launch their first international route from Wilmington International Airport (ILM) in North Carolina with new service to Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (PUJ).  The route will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays.  Additionally, new service between Wilmington and West Palm Beach, Florida (PBI) will operate twice weekly on Thursdays and Sundays starting November 20, 2025.  In total, Avelo will serve 17 nonstop destinations from their Wilmington, North Carolina base.


In Thursday’s announcement, Avelo Airlines’ Founder and CEO, Andrew Levy, said,


“We continue to Inspire Travel by growing our network at our newest bases.  We’re adding a new destination in Key West, giving ILM their first international destination to the Dominican Republic and three new routes to our Charlotte base.  These new routes offer our Customers even more choices, making it easier and more affordable than ever for our Customers to get where they want to go.”

 

Avelo is also launching new service between Key West International Airport (EYW) and Southern Connecticut’s Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN).  The route will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting November 19, 2025.  From Charlotte’s Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA), the carrier will add new service to San Juan, Puerto Rico (SJU) with twice weekly service on Wednesdays and Saturdays starting October 22, 2025.  Additionally, three weekly flights on Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays will operate from Charlotte/Concord (USA) to both West Palm Beach, Florida (PBI) and Albany, New York (ALB) starting October 23, 2025.  In total, Avelo will serve 8 nonstop destinations from their USA base.


Avelo offers three seating options, including Standard, Stretch, and Stretch+.  Stretch offers extra legroom, with pitch ranging from 32 inches to over 36 inches, while Stretch+ features a unique upgrade where the middle seat is blocked for added comfort and space.  Travelers can also purchase window and aisle seats in advance of their flight.  In addition to advance seat assignments, Avelo offers several unbundled travel-enhancing options that give Customers the flexibility to pay only for the ancillaries they need, such as priority boarding, checked bags, carry-on overhead bags, and bringing a pet in the cabin.  Additionally, every child 14 and under will be automatically seated with an accompanying adult at no additional cost.

Avelo now operates from seven bases at Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR) in California, Tweed-New Haven Airport (HVN) in Southern Connecticut, Orlando International Airport (MCO), Wilmington Philadelphia Regional Airport (ILG) in Delaware, Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU), Lakeland International Airport (LAL) in Central Florida, and Charlotte’s Concord-Padgett Regional Airport (USA), and Wilmington International Airport (ILM) in North Carolina.
