On Wednesday (March 20, 2024), American Airlines announced enhancement s to their onboard inflight entertainment and connectivity services.  All customers will be able to enjoy ad-sponsored Wi-Fi across the carrier’s domestic Viasat-equipped single-aisle fleet, and regional Wi-Fi installations will roll out this summer in partnership with Intelsat, bringing Wi-Fi to nearly 500 two-class regional aircraft.  Additionally, AAdvantage® members will soon be able to redeem their miles for Wi-Fi onboard. This new way to redeem miles will start rolling out on select aircraft over the next few weeks, and will be available on all Viasat-equipped narrowbody aircraft by the summer travel season.   American’s entertainment offer will also feature new inflight content and specially curated channels.

American’s new Wi-Fi connectivity enhancements will be powered by a newly designed Wi-Fi portal that customers can use inflight, which will be rolled out throughout 2024.  The new portal will make the Wi-Fi purchase process even easier, with fewer clicks and direct-to-consumer communication through strategic pop-up messaging.  As previously mentioned, American and Intelsat will begin installation on nearly 500 dual-class regional aircraft.  American Airlines is the first airline offering streaming capabilities on 100 percent of their mainline fleet, allowing guests to stream video content from their favorite platform.  Additionally, customers can continue to access 1,500 pieces of regularly updated content free of charge on the IFE system, with around 200 titles updated monthly.

Updated content includes movies, TV shows and lifestyle options such as the 2024 award winners and nominees on the Award Nominated Channel, a Women’s Stories channel, a Paramount Scares channel, and more.  American’s youngest flyers can enjoy baby sensory videos thanks to a partnership with Hey Bear Sensory.  Customers interested in wellness options might enjoy curated content such as meditation, affirmations, seated stretches, and self-care, among others, thanks to a new partnership with Fit-On.  Additionally, music fans can enjoy exclusive access to today’s most exciting artists through Center Stage, with each episode featuring in-depth interviews with emerging and established artists.

American Airlines also continues to provide even more value for customers via the ‘partners’ page, where customers can discover special offers from partners like Apple TV+, where customers can score a free two-month subscription to continue watching Apple Originals onboard.

American Airlines’ purpose is ‘To Care for People on Life’s Journey®’.  Shares in the American Airlines Group, Inc., trade on NASDAQ under the ticker symbol AAL and the company’s stock is included in the S&P 500.
