For summer 2024, American Airlines will add service to seven coastal destinations in New England and Nova Scotia, including Hyannis, Bangor, Halifax, Martha’s Vineyard, Nantucket and Portland.
On Thursday (October 12, 2023), American Airlines announced a summer 2024 schedule expansion with seven new routes to coastal destinations in New England and Nova Scotia. The schedule includes six new destinations from New York-La Guardia (LGA) including service to Bangor (BGR) and Portland (PWM) in Maine, Halifax (YHZ) in Canada, and Hyannis (HYA), Martha’s Vineyard (MVY) and Nantucket (ACK) in Massachusetts. Additionally, the carrier will launch new service between Washington Reagan National Airport (DCA) and Hyannis, Massachusetts. All routes will be operated with an Embraer E175.
In Thursday’s announcement, American Airlines’ SVP – Schedule and Network Planning, Brian Znotins, said,
“American continues to build a network that gives customers the most comprehensive access to the places they want to visit with nine new routes for next summer. New service to Hyannis, expanded service from New York, and more international service grows the largest global network in the United States, connecting more cities than any other U.S. carrier, for a summer like no other.”

For summer 2024, American Airlines will offer over 20 daily departures from Maine to six U.S. gateways, with onward one-stop connections to more than 200 destinations worldwide. American will also be the only U.S. carrier offering service to Nova Scotia, providing convenient access to the Bay of Fundy and iconic Peggy’s Cove, as well as Acadian Skies and Mi’kmaq Lands, a starlight reserve offering visitors a glimpse into our universe.
