American Airlines’ passengers will have more choices next summer as the airline announced exciting new summer destinations on Thursday. Some of the new seasonal destinations include Martha’s Vineyard (MVY) and Nantucket (ACK) in Massachusetts as well as new service from Jackson Mississippi (JAN) and Des Moines, Iowa (DSM) to Miami, Florida. American Airlines has a commanding presence at Miami International Airport, which serves as their gateway to Latin America and the Caribbean. In today’s announcement, American Airlines’ Senior Vice President of Network Strategy, Vasu Raja said,

“Every year we evaluate our network and look to create more routes and serve unique destinations whether we’re entering new markets like Casablanca or adding more service to places like Traverse City, Michigan. We continue to deliver the best network with the most options for our customers domestically and internationally during the most popular vacation time of the year.”

Starting in June, American will offer customers Saturday service to Martha’s Vineyard from their connecting hubs in Philadelphia (PHL) and Charlotte (CLT). Additionally, American is launching Saturday service from Philadelphia to Nantucket. The three new routes will be operated on an Embraer 175 regional jet configured with 12 First Class and 64 Main Cabin seats. For customers wishing to enjoy ‘Pure Michigan’ next summer, American will offer service to Traverse City (TVC), the largest U.S. producer of tart cherries, with direct service from PHL and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). Flights to Traverse City will be available on Saturdays during the summer season, giving customers the opportunity to enjoy the shores of Lake Michigan’s Grand Traverse Bay. American Airlines is also launching Airbus A319 service on Saturdays from Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) to Portland, Maine. Passengers flying from Jackson, Mississippi (JAN) and Des Moines, Iowa (DSM) to American’s Miami hub will enjoy one-stop connecting options to popular destinations such as Bonaire, St. Vincent and Montego Bay, Jamaica. The JAN and DSM flights will be available on Saturdays and Sundays from June through August.

For customers looking forward to a summer holiday overseas, American will enter the African market for the first time with flights from Philadelphia (PHL) to Casablanca, Morocco. From Chicago (ORD), American will be the only US carrier offering summer seasonal service to Krakow (KRK), Prague (PRG) and Budapest (BUD).
