On Tuesday (August 5, 2025), American Airlines announced that the American Airlines CR Smith Museum is hosting a very special exhibit, sure to delight avgeeks and LEGO fans of all ages.  The 1,500-square-foot exhibit offers a family-friendly glimpse into the world of flight through custom LEGO brick displays.  Visitors will take in scale models of American aircraft, a detailed Admirals Club® lounge, destination pods showcasing popular travel locations such as London and Rio de Janeiro, and exhibits highlighting some of the many careers behind each flight.  For hands-on fun, visitors can create their own aviation inspired LEGO designs in the interactive build zone.

In Tuesday’s announcement, American Airlines CR Smith Museum’s Executive Director, Uli Das, said,

“We’ve seen incredible excitement from visitors of all ages.  Bricks now boarding brings aviation to life through imaginative design and intricate detail.  It’s a colorful expression of our mission to spark curiosity and inspire the next generation of aviation professionals.”

The ‘Bricks now boarding’ exhibit was brought to life by renowned LEGO artist Warren Elsmore.  Known for building immersive, large-scale displays around the world, Mr. Elsmore worked hard to capture the spirit of American Airlines.  From aircraft to airport lounges and iconic destinations, every element was thoughtfully constructed.  He blended aviation history and expert LEGO skills to create a display that offers visitors a new way to experience the air travel journey.

The LEGO exhibition complements the museum’s hands-on summer camps, where kids can engage with the exhibit while learning STEM principles and the mechanics of flight.  The ‘Bricks now boarding: American Airlines in LEGO® bricks’ is now open during business hours from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.  Readers interested in visiting the American Airlines CR Smith Museum and purchase tickets by clicking here.
