American Airlines Bolsters Service to and From Austin, Texas With Ten New Routes

American Airlines is launching seven year-round and three seasonal routes to Austin in response to strong customer demand. Four new codeshare routes with Alaska Airlines between Austin and the West Coast will add ten more daily departures from May.

Today (March 11, 2021), American Airlines announced enhanced connectivity to and from Austin, Texas with seven new year-round and three seasonal routes. The carrier will also offer ten new daily departures from Austin in codeshare with Alaska Airlines and in partnership with JetBlue, Alaska Airlines and British Airways, will offer 26 destinations from Austin for summer 2021. The combined services from Austin will serve 19 of the 25 largest markets offering seamless connectivity to London with British Airways, New York on JetBlue or Las Vegas with American Airlines.


In Thursday’s announcement, American Airlines’ Vice President of Network Planning, Brian Znotins, said,


“American is eager to expand in Austin alongside the exponential growth of the region, and we’ll be the easiest airline to do business with as we continue to grow. Customers have been asking for more service to Austin, and today we’re answering the call. These routes not only provide opportunities for companies to get back to business and for leisure travelers to enjoy the excitement of Austin, but also connect Central Texans with new leisure destinations they desire.”


Also commenting an American’s expanded Austin connectivity, Oracle’s Director of Global Travel Sourcing, Rita Visser, added,


“Austin is a vibrant technology hub where companies like Oracle are growing, investing and innovating for the future. We look forward to relying on American Airlines’ additional routes to support not just employees traveling to our new headquarters, but also our customers and partners who are building their businesses with Oracle Cloud.”

The new routes announced today complement American Airlines’ existing service between Austin and Boston, Charlotte, Chicago-O’Hare, Dallas/Fort Worth, Los Angeles, Miami, New York-JFK, Philadelphia and Phoenix. American and Alaska will also offer new codeshared routes between Austin and San Diego, San Francisco, Portland (Oregon), Boise and Seattle. Also, American and JetBlue recently launched their codeshare partnership which includes service between New York-JFK and Austin.
