American Airlines Bolsters Network for Summer 2024 With New Routes and Destinations

For summer 2024, American Airlines will add new nonstop service from Philadelphia to Copenhagen, Naples and Nice, as well as from Dallas-Fort Worth to Barcelona and from Chicago to Venice. The carrier is also expanding their winter 2023/24 schedule.

On Thursday (August 17, 2023), American Airlines announced an expansion of their summer 2024 schedule with service to new European destinations. The carrier will launch nonstop service from Philadelphia (PHL) to Copenhagen (CPH), Naples (NAP), and Nice (NCE), as well as from Dallas Fort-Worth (DFW) to Barcelona. Additionally, American will resume flights between Chicago (ORD) and Venice (VCE). The airline is also further expanding their largest-ever winter 2023/24 schedule between the U.S. and destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America.

In Thursday’s announcement, American Airlines’ SVP – Network and Schedule Planning, Brian Znotins, said,


“American is thrilled to add three new European destinations. New service from Philadelphia and expanded trans-Atlantic service from Chicago and Dallas-Fort Worth will offer customers convenient one-stop access from more than 200 unique destinations across the U.S. to Europe next summer.”


For summer 2024, American will offer 15 daily nonstop flights from Philadelphia to 14 European destinations, their largest transatlantic schedule from PHL since 2019. Customers will also enjoy seamless one-stop connections to Europe form 70 domestic destinations via Philadelphia. From May 6, 2024, American will launch new service between Philadelphia and Nice, with new service to Naples to commence on June 5, 2024. On June 6th, the carrier will also start new service between Philadelphia and Copenhagen.

American Airlines is also launching new service between Dallas-Fort Worth and Barcelona, Spain for the first time, expanding their network to Barcelona to service from five U.S. gateways. The airline will also become the only U.S. carrier offering direct service between Chicago and Venice, Italy, complementing existing service from Philadelphia.


As previously mentioned, American Airlines is also bolstering their winter 2023/23 schedule from the U.S to fun and sun destinations in Mexico, the Caribbean and Latin America, including an increase in frequencies between DFW and Buenos Aires (EZE) from October 2023.
