Alaska Airlines is launching new daily nonstop service from San Diego to Washington DC, Tampa and Eugene, Oregon. Washington DC and Eugene service will start on June 15th, while service to Tampa will launch on October 5, 2023.
On Monday (January 30, 2023), Alaska Airlines announced an expansion of their San Diego (SAN) network with new daily coast-to-coast nonstop service to Washington D.C. (IAD) and Tampa, Florida (TPA) starting June 15th and October 5, 2023, respectively. The carrier is also launching new direct service between San Diego and Eugene, Oregon (EUG) from June 15, 2023. With the new routes, Alaska will serve 35 nonstop destinations from San Diego, more than any other airline. All flights departing San Diego offer a three-class cabin configuration. First and Premium Class guests enjoy early boarding and generous legroom, and First Class customers are also served hot meals based on a seasonal menu. Customers traveling in Premium Class can enjoy complimentary cocktails, hand-selected wines and local beers.
In Monday’s announcement, Alaska Airlines’ Vice President – California, Neil Thwaites, said,
“Our guests in San Diego asked for more nonstops to the East Coast and we’re excited to add service to both the nation’s capital and to Florida’s vibrant Gulf Coast. With convenient daytime schedules, award-winning service and a premium product offering, guests will arrive refreshed and ready-to-go.”
Also commenting on the new routes, San Diego County Regional Airport Authority’s President & CEO, Kimberly Becker, said,
“The announcement of new destinations on Alaska Airlines is a great way to start the year. Our community benefits from the addition of flights to the East Coast and Pacific Northwest. We thank Alaska Airlines for the addition of these routes and their continued partnership at SAN.”
Alaska Airlines has served California for over 40 years, and offers California residents their unique ‘Flight Pass’, a pay-by-month subscription service for flights throughout California, as well as to Las Vegas, Salt Lake City and Phoenix. The carrier currently operates over 330 peak daily flights from their hubs in San Francisco, Los Angeles and other key ficus cities such as San Diego and San Jose.
