On Monday (April 22, 2024), AirAsia Malaysia celebrated the launch of their inaugural flight between Jaipur in India and Kuala Lumpur.  Flight AK18 departed Jaipur International Airport at 23:40 with a 100 percent load factor, and arrived at Kuala Lumpur’s Terminal 2 at 07:05 local time.  Upon arrival, guests were warmly greeted by several ‘Allstars’ who handed out exclusive goodie bags.  This is the carrier’s first ever route to Jaipur, the stunning ‘Pink City’ famous for its vintage forts dating back to the 16th century, along with the majestic Jal Mahal.

In Monday’s announcement, AirAsia Aviation Group’s CEO, Bo Lingam, said,

“We’re thrilled  that our first ever services for AirAsia Malaysia between Jaipur and Kuala Lumpur route took  flight today and are honoured to be the only airline in Malaysia to offer this direct connectivity.  Jaipur ‒ often known as the ‘Jewel of Rajasthan’ ‒ is an exquisitely-beautiful city with plenty to offer, as is Kuala Lumpur thanks to our world-famous sky-scrappers and cultural melting pot of local delights.

“AirAsia first commenced flights from between India and Malaysia in 2008 with the sole aim of enabling travellers to experience the beauty and wonder of both countries with ease and affordability.  We have since gone on to fly millions of guests between  India and  Malaysia in the last decade and a half.  The inauguration of this route commemorates AirAsia’s steadfast commitment to further expand our network in India, and we look forward to welcoming more visitors to our homeland Malaysia, particularly following the government’s announcement of visa free entry into the country last year.”

Currently, AirAsia flies from Kuala Lumpur to 13 cities in India, with 78 weekly departures to  Trivandrum, Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Kochi, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar,  (from May 28, 2024), Visakhapatnam (from April 26, 2024) and Ahmedabad (from May 1st, 2024).  AirAsia X Malaysia also offers service from Kuala Lumpur to New Delhi and Amritsar with eight weekly flights.
