AirAsia Celebrates Inaugural Flight Between Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Terengganu

AirAsia celebrated their inaugural flight between Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Terengganu on Sunday with flight AK5310 departing Kota Kinabalu at 15:15 and arriving in Kuala Terengganu at 17:40. The route will operate once weekly on Sundays with introductory fares from RM128.

On Sunday (January 30, 2022), AirAsia announced the launch of inaugural service between Kota Kinabalu and Kuala Terengganu. Flight AK5310 departed Kota Kinabalu at 15:15 and arrived in Kuala Terengganu at 17:40, where guests were welcomed by AirAsia’s Head of Commercial, Ms. Nur Liyana Mahizzan, and Terengganu State Tourism’s Culture and Digital Technology Chairman, YB Ariffin Deraman. Flights on the route will operate once weekly on Sundays with promotional one-way fares from RM128. To qualify for the low introductory fares, flights must be booked by February 14, 2022, for travel from February 13th through September 30, 2022.


In Sunday’s announcement, AirAsia Malaysia’s CEO, Riad Asmat, said,


“These new routes will strengthen our tourism footprint in Malaysia and set the scene to prepare for the return of international travel soon, as it provides more options for international visitors to travel between various tourism hotspots in Malaysia. We would like to thank both Terengganu State Tourism as well as Sabah Tourism for continuously supporting all of AirAsia’s efforts in reviving the tourism industry, and we look forward to working closely together to drive increased traffic between both cities.


“From an operational standpoint, we have extensively prepared to ensure all of our guests can travel safely, seamlessly and with peace of mind. AirAsia guests are always assured of the stringent health and safety protocols enforced on all of our flights with our highly trained and fully vaccinated crew continuing to deliver the world’s best service during the pandemic.”

Only fully-vaccinated travelers will be permitted onboard flights, and as part of the carrier’s robust COVID-19 mitigation protocols, all guests must check-in via the airasia Super App. Additionally, AirAsia has launched a unique ‘FACES” facial recognition boarding system that makes the entire journey fully digital and contactless.
