On Thursday (March 11, 2021), Air Seychelles announced that they will resume service to Mumbai, India’s largest city and financial center after a one year absence on the route. Starting April 7, 2021, the airline will offer twice-weekly service to Mumbai and the route will be operated with an Airbus A320neo, configured with 12 Business and 154 Economy Class seats. The relaunch of the route follows an ‘air bubble agreement’ between India and the Seychelles. Flights on the route will depart Seychelles International Airport late in the evening on Wednesdays and Saturdays and will arrive in Mumbai in the early morning hours, providing convenient onward domestic connections. The return flights will depart Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Airport on Thursdays and Saturdays and arrive in the Seychelles early in the morning, providing visitors from India a full day to plan their activities.
Travelers to Mumbai must hold a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate taken no longer than 72 hours prior to departure. Customers with onward domestic connections in India should verify destination guidelines, as each city may have specific entry requirements. Indian nationals (including nationals of Nepal and Bhutan) with a valid visa for the destination country will be permitted to travel on these flights, subject to destination country travel restrictions. In addition to a negative PCR test, customers traveling to the Seychelles must complete the mandatory Health Travel Authorization at seychelles.govtas.com.
Founded in 1978, Air Seychelles is the national carrier of the Seychelles. The carrier started long-haul services in 1983 and currently offers international flights to Johannesburg, Mauritius, Tel Aviv and Mumbai (from April 7, 2021). Air Seychelles offers over 350 domestic flights weekly throughout the archipelago, including charter flights. The carrier is a pillar of tourism for the island nation’s strongest and growing sector and maintains a strategic partnership with Etihad Airways. Etihad, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), maintains a 40 percent equity stake in Air Seychelles.
