On Wednesday (June 9, 2021), Air Serbia announced that they will resume flights between Belgrade and Barcelona after a one year hiatus due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. From July 4, 2021, the carrier will offer twice-weekly service to Barcelona on Thursdays and Sundays. The Serbian national carrier originally launched service to Barcelona in June 2019, continuing the tradition of predecessor airline JAT, which operated flights to the popular Spanish tourist destination until 1998. Air Serbia has planned the schedule to offer seamless connectivity across their network to destinations including Athens, Bucharest, Istanbul, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Skopje, Thessaloniki, Tirana and Tivat.
In Wednesday’s announcement, Air Serbia’s General Manager – Commercial and Strategy, Jiri Marek, said,
“We are happy to be renewing the direct air link with Barcelona, a destination that is extremely popular among our passengers, both in terms of business and leisure travel. We remain focused on every opportunity that presents itself on the market, in order to be able to continue making good results and to be able to offer our passengers the biggest possible selection of destinations during the vacation season.”
