Air New Zealand’s Latest Wildlife Conservation Safety Video Most Viewed in Airline’s History

Air New Zealand announced on Thursday that their latest safety video has been viewed more than 27 million times since its February 27th release. The video was created in partnership with New Zealand’s Department of Conservation.

Last Thursday (March 5, 2020), Air New Zealand announced that their latest safety video has been viewed more than 27 million times, the most in the airline’s history. The wildlife conservation themed video was produced in cooperation with New Zealand’s Department of Conservation (DOC) and features a young girl named Janey along with a computer generated image (CGI) of a takahē named Mr. T. The video has captured not only the imagination of Kiwis but millions around the world from North and South America, China, Singapore, Japan and the United Kingdom. In Thursday’s announcement, Air New Zealand’s General Manager – Global Brand and Content Marketing, Jodi Williams said,


“It’s been great to work with our longtime partner DOC to share the really important message that our native wildlife needs our help, and I know they’re delighted as we are to see this video really soar. Feedback through our social media channels have also been really positive with comments such as ‘my fave safety vid’, ‘one of the best I’ve seen’ and ‘made me homesick.’”



Also speaking on the success of the video, New Zealand’s Department of Conservation’s Threatened Species Ambassador, Nicola Toki added,


“We are facing a global biodiversity crisis and the reach of this safety video raises awareness of some of the work that goes into helping our Taonga species here in Aotearoa. Hopefully this gets people thinking about how they might contribute in their place in the world.”
